That time of the year has finally arrived, and we are taking out our winter gear and preparing for winter. As always, along with winter comes festivity and Christmas, as we all know. Additionally, once again, the Ottawa Christmas Market is back this winter!
What is The Christmas Market?
Located right at Lansdowne, not too far from our school, is where the Christmas Market is taking place. The market started back on November 22nd and is open normally every Friday-Sunday just until January 5th. I recommend checking the Christmas Market website for the exact dates as there are a couple of extra days as well as different times. You can also find activities and more info posted there!
What To Do There?
As it is a market you can always take a stroll around to enjoy the market vibe but as it is a Christmas market you can also enjoy the nighttime lights, or if you’re a fan of shopping at local vendors this would be a great place to check out because there are plenty of vendors with their products! Be it as a gift or for yourself it is a great place to get something local if you’re a fan of supporting such.
For those who want more of a good time, there are live performances of artists every single night and even in the morning there is always festive music playing to really get you into the festive mood. Decorated beautifully, it really is a pleasant palace to be in. Hopefully, once the snow starts coming in it’ll look even better. Finally, there is a skating rink right next to the market so if the canal isn’t open you can always skate there!
If it’s too cold outside there’s even a whole different market happening inside with a whole ton of other vendors. Fridays have the 613 Flea Market and Saturdays and Sundays have the Farmers Market, if you’re looking for more local products food-wise. These markets have shorter times so just be aware of that. Or warm up in the warming tent right next to the skating rink!
If you’re hungry there are tons of options for food such as the classics, Beavertails and taffy on snow, as well as other great options such as Snack O’ Shack, where they even sell Korean corn dogs, spring rolls and other foods that many have said they loved and are the best.
So, if you’re bored and don’t know what to do why not check out the market!
